George Dunn in court over alleged burglaries in Maidstone and the Weald

A suspected burglar has appeared at court charged with offences in the Maidstone and Weald areas.

Kent Police received reports of a number of break-ins on Tuesday, September 17, at houses in High Street and Slipmill Lane in Hawkhurst; School Hill in Lamberhurst and Mereworth Road in Mereworth.

Two further burglaries were reported at addresses in Marion Crescent and Sutton Road in Maidstone on Tuesday, October 15.

On Monday, October 28, officers attempted to stop a vehicle while they were on patrol in Park Wood, Maidstone. The driver left the scene on foot after the officers sought to detain him.

George Dunn of no fixed address was arrested on Sunday, November 3. The 36-year-old was later charged with six counts of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, two counts of driving without insurance, assaulting an emergency worker and resisting an officer in the execution of his duty.

Dunn was remanded yesterday by Medway Magistrates’ Court to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on December 3.
