M26 closed westbound after 'police incident'

Drivers are facing delays this morning - with a major motorway closed due to a 'police incident'.

The M26 has been closed westbound due to accident investigation work from J2A A20 London Road (Wrotham) to M25 J5.

Highways England says traffic should use the M20 and continue to M25 J3 , to then travel on either the M25 or A20.

Kent Police's Roads Policing Unit tweeted a picture from the scene, adding: "M26 London bound currently closed whilst we deal with an incident. Please bear with us."

Meanwhile, one lane of the M20 was closed this morning due to a broken down vehicle.

Traffic was slow on the motorway westbound from J5 A20 (Aylesford) to J4 A228 Castle Way (Leybourne / Snodland).

But the vehicle has now been cleared and traffic is returning to normal.

Elsewhere, the A21 Tonbridge Bypass remains closed in both directions between A26 (Tonbridge / Vauxhall Roundabout) and A225 (Hildenborough / Sevenoaks Turn Off) until the early hours of Monday for viaduct repair works.
