Disney facing pressure over Spider-Man headstone in Maidstone from Helen Whately, Faversham and Mid Kent MP

Disney is facing political pressure to permit a Spider-Man headstone at a young boy's grave.

Ollie Jones, four, died of leukodystrophy in December after a two year battle with the disease.

His dad Lloyd and uncle Jason both spoke with the Kent Messenger last month in a bid to get the superhero headstone at young Ollie's grave in Maidstone Cemetery.

Disney refused, saying it wanted to "preserve innocence and magic around our characters."

Last month a petition urging the film giant to reverse its decision topped 100,000 signatures.

Disney has refused to comment on the petition since the KM approached it a week ago.

Jason Lloyd's local MP Helen Whately, Faversham and Mid Kent MP, has written a letter lending her voice to the family's cause.

In it she wrote: "I would be most grateful if you could reconsider Mr Jones's request so that his whole family can have the memorial which they think is most fitting for their son."

The letter, dated from last Wednesday, has had no reply.

Ollie's dad Lloyd, from Barming, is also enlisting the help of Helen Grant, his local MP.
