Sisters Rosemary and Christine Singyard shocked by cowardly threats with bucket and paint attack in Teston

Two sisters have been targeted with terrifying threats daubed on a plastic bucket.

Police are now investigating after £3,000 of damage was caused to Rosemary and Christine Singyard’s car, when it was covered with gloss paint.

Forensic tests are being carried out on the orange bucket left at the scene, which carried the sinister message: “Did you think we forget U don’t scream, swear abuse and report truckers and gobby with the camera over the road will get hers very very soon.”

The sisters, editors of the Teston village magazine Tapestry, believe the bizarre attacks are also directed at neighbours Gillian and Mick Berry and could relate to requests for truckers to stop parking on pavements.

Rosemary, 70, of Courtlands, said: “We can’t work it out. We’re still in the dark as to who could have done such a nasty thing.

“Lorries used to come and park on the pavement about nine months ago. We would point out to them the inconvenience but were always polite and never rude.”

She thanked friends, neighbours and villagers for their care and support since the shocking incident.

The red Toyota Yaris belongs to Rosemary, and her 73-year-old sister. It was daubed in grey paint sometime between 10pm on Wednesday, August 27 and 7am the next day.

Paint was splashed over the roof, down the side and partially over the bonnet.

“The persons who did this have a cowardly way of dealing with women" - Gillian Berry

Mrs Berry, who lives close by in the road, said: “To accuse these two elderly sisters, who are the pillar of the community, of swearing is a nonsense. They never swear.

“This came out of the blue.

“I have my suspicions but cannot say more at the moment.”

A police spokesman said: “Forensic tests are being carried out on a bucket which was found nearby and which is believed linked to the incident.”
