Police and fire crew attend Sittingbourne Road, Maidstone (A249) as route shut off in town centre

Emergency services were called to a town centre after loose facia was reported hanging off a building.

Part of Sittingbourne Road in Maidstone (A249) was shut by police last night (Saturday).

At least two fire engines and a police vehicle were pictured on the route at the Union Street junction.

Firefighters were seen at a flat after being called at about 7.20pm to the loose facia on a building hanging over the road.

Crews used a height vehicle to remove it and lower it to a place of safety. They left at 8.20pm.

Police attended the scene shortly after 7.35pm for traffic control.
