Police close Lower Boxley Road, Maidstone after crash

A man was arrested and a town centre road closed following a crash.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident in Lower Boxley Road, Maidstone this morning.

A passer-by said it looked like a car had collided with a parked vehicle by the prison wall, near to the junction with Boxley Road.

The traffic report Inrix said the road was cleared just before 11am.

Police confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to Lower Boxley Road, Maidstone at 9.45am following a report that a vehicle had collided with a stationary vehicle.

"A man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

"He was taken to hospital to be checked over and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
