Teenagers from Staplehurst and West Sussex arrested in connection with burglary in Queens Road, Barming

Two teenage women have been arrested in connection with a break-in at a home during which thieves left empty-handed.

Police were alerted to three men being disturbed by the homeowners during a burglary in Queens Road, Barming, earlier this month.

One of the victims was pushed over as the suspects ran from the home on Wednesday, January 9.

They were chased by a second resident to a silver or grey four-door hatchback car driven by a fourth man which was parked at the junction with Langdale Rise.

The victim told police he damaged the car windscreen with a glass bottle and the men threatened him before the vehicle drove off towards London Road.

One of the suspects is described as white, in his early 20s, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing and a black and white scarf over his face.

Two of the others are described as white and wearing dark clothing with white scarves over their faces.

It was later established nothing had been stolen from the premises.

Detectives are continuing their investigation after two women were arrested and released.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "At around 4.30pm, on January 12, a Ford Fiesta believed to be linked the burglary was stopped by officers in Lodge Road, Staplehurst.

"The vehicle was seized and two women, aged 18 from Staplehurst and aged 19 from Lancing, West Sussex, were arrested. They were later released pending further investigation."
