Police dog finds burglar with stolen tools, drugs and knife during search in Maidstone

A police dog has tracked down a burglar who tried to steal tools from a building in Maidstone.

At around 10.50pm on Sunday, October 17, officers and police dog Bo attended the premises in London Road following a report of suspicious noises.

During a search, Bo found Dariusz Kawa in an outbuilding.

He was arrested and patrols seized a bag containing stolen tools, a knife and a amphetamines.

Copper wiring and pipes were also found on the ground outside.

Kawa, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, possession of an offensive weapon and possessing class B drugs.

The 37-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to all charges.

Kawa, who was already subject to two suspended sentences, was jailed for 150 days.
