A German-themed bar has suddenly announced it will be closing in three weeks.
Bierkeller, in Bank Street, Maidstone, has informed customers today (June 15) that its final night will be Saturday, July 5.
The statement added: “We want to say a massive thank you to the incredible staff, bands, DJs and security that have helped this venue become what it was.
“Your work, passion, and dedication have made Bierkeller so special to so many people.
“And to all of you who danced on the benches, sang your hearts out, celebrated hens, stags and birthdays with us, thank you for sharing your memories with us.
“We still have a number of events up until we close, so join us for these final few weeks, raise your steins, sing as loud as you can and join us in making this the greatest send off.”
The reasons why the showbar is closing have not been confirmed.
However, the news has come as a shock to punters, with one saying it was the “worst day of [their] life” while another said it was “a good place”.
One customer added: “Heartbroken is an understatement.”
While someone else commented: “I love this place. Some fun times have been had in there, sad times.”
The venue is known for being a German-themed beer hall offering beers and cocktails in steins, hosting live Oompha shows, and for its staff wearing Bavarian costumes.
