Police arrested a suspect on suspicion of rape and sexual assault this morning and discovered a cannabis factory at the same time.

Kent Police's Maidstone division said officers entered an address early this morning and made the arrest.

It added: "During the arrest, a cultivation of cannabis was also located.

"Top work to get this person in custody to prevent harm to the public."

It is not yet known whereabouts in Maidstone the discovery was made or how big the cannabis factory was.

Police have been contacted for further information.
