A popular music store in Maidstone has strummed its last chord.

Music Matters, in Week Street, had been in business since October 2003, but it closed at the start of the month after a seven-day sale.

For 19 years it had been the go-to shop for musicians looking to buy a new guitar, replace a violin string or find the right sheet music.

A notice in the shop window said: "We are proud to have had the honour of serving Maidstone's fine musicians, friends and families over the past 19 years."

It said the pandemic had had a significant adverse effect on business and with the current uncertainty around trading and the prospect of the building's lease expiring shortly, it had decided to call it a day.
