Second arrest after cash-in-transit van robbery in Malling Road in Snodland

A second man has been charged in connection with a robbery of a cash-in-transit van.

Police received reports on September 17 that a security driver was threatened with a knife outside a service station in Malling Road, Snodland.

A large quantity of cash was stolen and an investigation by Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate was launched.

Peter Henderson, 36, of Farmway, Dagenham was arrested on October 11 and later charged with robbery, with possessing a knife in in a public place and two further counts of receiving stolen goods.

He is currently remanded in custody.

Yesterday, Christopher Downey, 35, of no fixed address, was charged with robbery, possessing a knife in a public place and with handling stolen goods.

He appeared before Ilford Magistrates' Court today where he was remanded in custody.

Both men are to appear next at Maidstone Crown Court, on 9 November.
