The school says it will remain shut today after water damaged parts of the site and affected its computer systems.

A statement from the school says pupils were never in any danger.

It reads: "We can confirm that the school has experienced a sprinkler activation which has subsequently flooded parts of the school causing damage to some areas. The boiler system has not failed or exploded.

"At no point were any pupils in danger and any pupils still in the building were evacuated following school procedures with parents contacted immediately.

"At present, due to our computer systems being affected by the flooding, it has not been possible to email or text parents regarding the closure tomorrow. We are working hard to get these systems back up running.

One mock exam was due to take place today (Wednesday), which has been postponed until the school reopens.

It is understood the sprinklers were activated after school and no student was involved.

Only after-school clubs were still in the building at the time.
