Police community support officers (PCSOs) arrested two people on suspicion of theft on Tuesday.
Allegations that phones had been stolen from a shop display in Week Street, Maidstone were reported to police at around 3.30pm.
While patrolling the town centre, PCSOs stopped an 18-year-old man from Slough, Berkshire accompanied by a 14-year-old boy from Dagenham, Essex.
They were both held on suspicion of theft.
Inspector Giacomino Vail of Maidstone’s community safety unit said: "Once again our local PCSOs have shown themselves to be alert to crimes in the town centre and were quick to identify potential suspects."
The man and the boy were later released pending further investigation.
