KMTV with the latest on the murder trial
On trial at Maidstone Crown Court, the teenager, from Hornsey, north London, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has denied murdering Andre Bent and the attempted murder of three others and violent disorder.
Mr Bent, a student at London's South Bank University, died from a single chest wound in Jubilee Square, Maidstone.
Two others, Ryan Lowe-White, 31, from North London and Ali Aziz, 24, from Glasgow have denied causing grievous bodily harm to Joshua Robinson with intent.
Philip Bennetts QC told the jury: "In the early hours of the morning of the August 25 last year a spontaneous outbreak of violence occurred in Maidstone town centre.
"That violence resulted in the death of one person and the serious injury of four others.
"A grime artist, Montell Daley, known as MoStack, appeared at The Gallery Nightclub, Bank Street, Maidstone.
"He arrived at about 1am with a large group of supporters and friends. They were shown into a VIP area which had a separate entrance and exit and did not have a security scan procedure.
"His performance was to be at 1.30am. Having performed, he left the club shortly before 3am together with his friends and supporters."
The prosecutor added that the violence happened a short while later.
"Some of those participating were fans, friends or supporters of MoStack,” he added.
Mr Bennetts claimed the 16-year-old got a knife, put a jumper over his head and attacked a number of people.
He stabbed Lucas Baker, Patrick Conceicao, Joshua Robinson and then stabbed and killed, Andre Bent, Mr Bennetts said.
Andre Bent’s stab wounds were fatal and he died whilst receiving emergency treatment, less than 40 minutes after the attack.
The prosecutor told the jury: "There is no issue that the teenager was responsible for those stabbings.
"It is the prosecution case that in stabbing Lucas Baker and Patrick Conceicao, you can be sure that he intended to kill them.
"Looking at all the evidence and the use of the knife you can conclude that was his intention."
"He describes the scene as developing into a “Royal Rumble..."
The jury heard CCTV showed the teenager could be seen to be holding a knife.
After the stabbing, the he went to Stansted Airport, the court heard. He returned to the UK on August 31 and was arrested.
The teenager answered 'no comment' to questions during police questioning.
He is expected to claim he was acting in self-defence.
The teenager's barrister Jeremy Wainwright QC told the jury the defence accept the youngster used the knife on four people that night.
But he added that the jury will have to decide if he used the weapon in order to protect himself and his friends.
Mr Bennetts added a witness, who attended Gallery that night saw a man lying unconscious on the floor being attended to by medical staff.
The prosecutor added: "He describes the scene as developing into a "Royal Rumble".
Ryan Lowe-White, Ali Aziz, Yusuf Aweys, Nathaniel Small, Darien Thompson-Cox, Rheo Lawrence, Mohammed Gelani, Kaline Riley and Jerral Johnson-Lowe have all admitted violence disorder, the jury heard.
He claimed the teenager "covered with something maybe a scarf who had a big knife with him."
"The witness said it had a nine or 10 inch blade, holding it by his waist. MoStack took hold of him and told him to leave. He didn’t.
"MoStack moved away and the teenager produced a knife 'and looked like he was looking for someone in particular, " he alleged.
The witness is then alleged to have seen the youth stabbing Lucas Baker once in the right side of his back.
On that night, Andre Bent had invited a friend Max Ventham - who he had known for 10 years - to a birthday party.
Mr Bennetts told the jury: "Max saw a person aim at Andre 'a big hook punch' that seemed to hit Andre under his arm.
"Andre ran away. He ran to an ambulance. As soon as he was stabbed, Andre Bent ran to a First Aid Bus but despite all efforts he died, " the prosecutor added.
The trial continues.
