Former busker Tyber Cranstoun returns to Maidstone with ska and reggae band The Dualers

A man who once busked on the streets of Maidstone is set to make a grand return to perform on stage at Mote Hall.

Tyber Cranstoun began his musical career performing in various Kent towns with his brother Si but has shot to the top after founding the nine-piece Jamaican rhythm and blues band - The Dualers.

Since performing for change the 38-year-old has played alongside some of the biggest names in ska and reggae including The Skatalites, Toots and The Maytals, Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, UB40, and Madness.

The group has made it into the top 40 several times including with their single ‘Kiss on the Lips’ at number 21 the follow up single 'Truly Madly Deeply' at number 23.

Their current tour takes them to prestigious venues such as The Albert Hall in Manchester, Birmingham 02 Academy and Indigo at the 02 in London, but the local boy hasn't forgotten his roots.

On Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11 he will be returning, along with his band, to Mote Hall at Maidstone Leisure Centre for two nights.

"I'm totally looking forward to it," he said. "I grew up in Bromely and later in Maidstone and my parents still live in East Farleigh so the area is basically my home."

While the show on Saturday has sold out, tickets Friday are still up for grabs at tinyurl.com/dualers
