Teen threatened with stabbing in car during robbery in Armstrong Road, Tovil

A teenager was told he would be stabbed by a trio of robbers who targeted him as he sat in his car.

Three men raided the 18-year-old's Ford Fiesta in Tovil on Friday afternoon as he made his way home from work and asked him for cannabis before stealing cash and a driving licence.

Police have launched an investigation following the terrifying ordeal in Armstrong Road at around 3pm and the victim's mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, is keen for other drivers to be vigilant.

She said: "He was at the back of the traffic at the lights near the gym and the entrance to the park.

"He had his window open when a man came through his window and talked to him about the rap music he was playing.

"He said to him 'you must have weed in the car if you are listening to that music'."

Another man opened the passenger's door and entered the victim's car before they threatened him and looked through his belongings.

The man at the window was in his late teens, black and wore a hooded top.

The second suspect was of mixed race, around 26 years old and had a beard.

The victim's mother said: "My son told them he didn't have anything.

"He showed them his phone but it is quite old so they gave it back. They found his wallet and took £50.

"They said to him 'don't move the car, I've got a knife and I'll shank you'.

"He had his driving licence in his wallet and they took that. He asked them to not take it and they said 'this isn't how it works. You work for us now. We've got your address'.

"It all happened so quickly. They sounded more London or Luton and he had never seen them before and didn't recognise them."
