Train delays between Swanley and Maidstone after lorry hits bridge in Seven Mile Lane, Wrotham Heath

A lorry crashed into a railway bridge.

Train services between Swanley and Maidstone East have been cancelled and altered after the accident on Seven Mile Lane, near Wrotham Heath.

The HGV appeared to be stuck underneath the bridge which has height restriction signs.

Witnesses report staff from Kent Highways were at the scene.

A police spokesman confirmed officers attended and no injuries were reported.

The road remains open to traffic.

Network Rail confirmed inspectors assessed the bridge, which is vulnerable to damage due to its construction, and declared it safe.

Trains services between Ashford and Otford via Maidstone East may be subject to delays and alterations.

A replacement bus has been organised to run between Swanley and Maidstone East and should be available from 2pm.

Network Rail advises customers to allow more time to reach their destination but said normal services should resume soon.
