Trains between Paddock Wood and Strood disrupted due to police 'incident' at Maidstone Barracks

Trains between Paddock Wood and Strood have been disrupted due to a police 'incident' at Maidstone Barracks.

Southeastern has tweeted to say emergency services are dealing with the incident at the train station, which led to a person having to be escorted off the railway.

It meant the electric supply, that powers the trains, had to be switched off.

At about 5.30pm, the rail company said the power had been switched back on and lines through Maidstone Barracks had reopened.

However, it added, trains between Paddock Wood and Strood may still be delayed, altered or cancelled, and disruption is expected until 6.45pm.

A police helicopter had also been seen hovering over the area, but it is not yet known if it was connected to this incident.
