Travellers moved on from field in Old Chatham Road, Sandling

A large group of travellers are being moved on after setting up camp over a week ago.

Almost 15 caravans along with a tent and multiple vans pitched up on a field off Old Chatham Road in Sandling on Monday, October 22.

According to police, the group began moving out last night with the remainder expected to have gone by midday.

A nearby resident said that the encampment started small but kept growing as the days went by.

A police spokesman said: "We received notification of an unauthorised encampment in a field on Old Chatham Road, Sandling.

"The landowner is aware and is dealing with the matter, which is the standard procedure in terms of any eviction process."
