A Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist and three stars from RuPaul's Drag Race UK are part of the line-up set to head to Maidstone this summer for an outdoor LGBT+ festival.

The event at Mote Park on Friday, June 25, the first of its kind, falls at the end of the week when all existing coronavirus restrictions on social contact could be lifted.

Popular nightlife promoters Glitterbomb are pulling out all the stops to bring the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community together for what is sure to be a huge celebration for "Glitterbomb in the Park."

It will see RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season one finalist Baga Chipz, a multi-talented performer, who is a staple on the London and national scene, take to the stage for a live vocal set.

She will be joined at the festival by Lawrence Chaney and Bimini Bon-Boulash who are currently battling it out to see who will be crowned the outright winner of season two of the popular TV series.

Also set to feature is drag act and vocalist Danny Beard who reached the semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2016. He will take to the stage too, bringing his signature big belting voice.

Joining the line-up and taking on some of the hosting duties will be Maidstone favourite Madame Mu Mu.

A regular fixture in the nightlife scene in the town, she is promising "an opening larger than Leeds Castle".

Stephen Sullivan, from Glitterbomb, said: “Lockdown has been tough on everyone and we really wanted to do something to make up for all the nights people have missed out on over the last year with something big.”

Tickets start from £10, and it is also possible to purchase a meet-and-greet bundle for several of the performers who are taking part.

The festival comes two months before Canterbury Pride which is set to return on Saturday, September 11 after it was wiped from last year's calendar by the pandemic.
