Two men have been charged with violent assault after a police officer was attacked in Maidstone.
The PC, a member of the Roads Policing Unit, was in the Woodside Road, Mangravet area carrying out inquiries at around 11.15am on Wednesday.
As he approached a parked car, it's alleged two men assaulted him before running away.
Two suspects were later arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.
The injured officer was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged, although will require further treatment.
Yesterday David Hilden and Robbie Booth, both 22, were charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, and with possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
Hilden and Booth, both of no fixed address, were remanded in custody and are due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
Investigators are continuing to appeal to anyone in the area with CCTV or dashcam footage, which may assist the investigation.
