Two people cut out of vehicles by firefighters following multi-car crash on M20

Two people had to be cut out of their vehicles by firefighters following a late-night motorway crash.

The collision, involving four vehicles, happened in roadworks on the coastbound carriageway of the M20, between junction 4 for West Mallling and junction 5 for Maidstone West, at about 10.45pm last night.

Joined by paramedics, fire crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to create space for the two people, who were in separate vehicles, to be treated before they were passed onto waiting ambulances.

Police say no serious injuries were reported.

The motorway was closed until the carriageway was made safe shortly after 2am.

Long delays built up in the area and drivers were being advised to follow diversions from junction 4.
