Lanes blocked on M20 near Junction 4 after van jackknifes

A van has jackknifed on the M20, near Maidstone.

Police were called at 9.21am to reports of an overturned Ford transit van and a trailer, on a coastbound lane near Junction 4, for Leybourne.

The van and trailer are blocking two of three lanes.

Firefighters joined officers at the scene.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews used short extension ladders to access and release a person out of the vehicle. Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance (SECAmb) were also in attendance."

The scene was safe by 10am.

All lanes had reopened by 11.30am.
