Latest planning applications in Maidstone include vehicle cover at fire station in Loose Road, and Traveller site in Headcorn

Plans for a vehicle shelter at a fire station and a new traveller site are among the latest applications submitted to Maidstone council.

Permission is sought for a “long-term installation” of a fabric-covered structure at Maidstone fire station in Loose Road.

If approved, the grey shelter would be located on the land rear of the building, next to a storage container.

In Headcorn, an application has been lodged for six new Gypsy and Traveller pitches on land east of Water Lane.

Parking provisions are also proposed with 12 spaces for cars.

Currently, the land is being used as an external storage area for building materials.

There is already a Traveller site adjacent to it, and another around 100 yards away.

In Stockett Lane, Coxheath County Primary School is giving prior notification of plans to install solar panels on its roof.

Around 359 panels would be added to the flat roofs, generating a total capacity of about 165kWp.

The applicant says the proposal will help the school in its “ambition to maximise on the potential of on-site for zero-carbon electricity generation as part of its wider decarbonisation strategy”.

In Carman’s Close, Loose, plans have been submitted to demolish three garages and a greenhouse to erect two detached houses.

The application also calls for the reconfiguration of garden land, associated access and parking.

And at Court House in Rectory Lane, Sutton Valence, permission is sought for a single-storey orangery extension.

If approved, brickwork would match the existing look of the Grade II-listed home.
