Little Venice Country Park residents return home after flood concerns caused by Storm Dennis

Hundreds of residents who fled their homes over flooding fears have now returned.

On Saturday, 200 people left a caravan park in Yalding during a voluntary evacuation, as water levels rose and submerged the area.

Drone footage showed the extent of the damage to the park and village, caused by Storm Dennis.

However, the park has emerged apparently unscathed.

Albert Lee, owner, said: The water has completely gone. There has been no damage whatsoever, only a little bit of mud has been left.

"The road sweepers are going round the park now as we speak. The residents are back on the park as if nothing has ever happened."

A flood alert is still in place for Maidstone and nearby areas.

Water levels on the River Medway are now falling but remain high.

The Environment Agency has warned that water on low lying land and footpaths around Wateringbury, East Farleigh and Maidstone is expected to remain until later this afternoon.

Further periods of rainfall are forecast for today.
