The warning covers Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Medway, Gravesend and Dartford.

Experts say scattered thunderstorms could lead to some flooding and disruption on Monday.

The rain will be fairly fast-moving and intense for short periods of time, producing 20-30mm in less than an hour and 40-50mm within one to two hours in some places where thunderstorms grow larger.

There may also be lightning, hail and gusty winds.

The showers and thunderstorms are predicted to ease through the evening.

The Met Office has warned motorists to check road conditions and for commuters to look at bus and train timetables before making journeys.

To protect from injury, residents should also ensure movable objects or temporary structures are secured, such as bins and garden furniture.

A spokesperson said: “Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

“If you find yourself outside and hear thunder, protect yourself by finding a safe enclosed shelter (such as a car).

“Do not shelter under or near trees, or other structures which may be struck by lightning. If you are on an elevated area, move to lower ground.”
