Watch: Lukas Bates' Big Ben costume causes problems at London Marathon finish line

A Maidstone marathon runner got into some trouble at the end of the London Marathon today.

Lukas Bates had completed 26.2 miles dressed as Big Ben.

But his iconic landmark costume caused him some difficulty when he couldn't fit under the finish line.

Earlier this week the quantity surveyor spoke about how even a slight breeze could cause him trouble, as he prepared to run the marathon for Dementia Revolution.

In the end his biggest obstacle was the fake spire of the Queen Elizabeth Tower, which towers 1.5metre above his head.

The 30-year-old was trying to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon dressed as a landmark building - which stands at three hours, 34 minutes and 34 seconds.

He clocked a finishing time of three hours and 54 minutes - and was given a helping hand across the line from a race volunteer and another runner.
