Maplesden Noakes pupils perform in Fremlin Walk for Mental Health Awareness Week

Young actors and dancers from Maplesden Noakes School have performed in public as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Some shoppers stopped and formed a crowd to watch performances at Fremlin Walk in Maidstone today.

Teacher Hayley Fraser-Thompson said: "Our performance was all about body image.

"We've done lots of performances here before so we're quite a well known school for taking part and doing things out in the community."

Year 12 drama students from the Great Buckland Road school started the show at lunchtime by performing a piece to This Is Me from The Greatest Showman.

Then pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 followed up with a dance to songs including Jess Glyne's Thursday.

Mrs Fraser-Thompson added: "They're all really brave, we didn't have that long to create the pieces either.

"We were emailed only two weeks ago asking us to get something together.

"We created it in about an hour and it came out looking really good."
