Last year’s winner Claire Ryan, a Macmillan nurse clinician who works at Maidstone’s Kent Oncology Centre, was praised by her patients for her ability to listen and try to help with leading a normal life.

She said: “The recognition is professionally and personally rewarding, and the nominations highlight the importance and value key nursing roles provide to people and their families.”
