A woman has fallen from a bridge onto a motorway.

Police were called to the M26, between Junction 3 of the M20, near Wrotham Heath, and the junction with the M25, shortly after at 7.22am.

Officers were joined by the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Highways teams.

The woman was taken to a London hospital in a serious condition.

Police closed the westbound carriageway at Junction 3 while inquiries into the incident were carried out, causing traffic delays.

The carriageway re-opened at about 10am.
