Bearsted reinstated in FA Cup after Peacehaven & Telscombe fielded an ineligible player

Southern Counties East League Bearsted are back in this season's FA Cup.

The Bears were knocked out in the extra preliminary round on Tuesday, September 1 after losing 5-3 at home to Peacehaven & Telscombe - a game that saw Bears striker Andy Irvine net twice.

But the FA have found the Haven guilty of fielding an ineligible player in that tie.

It means Bearsted will travel to Isthmian South East Whyteleafe in the preliminary round this Saturday.

Peacehaven said: "The FA have acknowledged this was a genuine error and won’t be fining Peacehaven & Telscombe FC for any irregularity."

Club chair Sue Norwood said: “We’re really disappointed that we have been removed from this year’s competition but we do acknowledge we have made a mistake and for this we apologise to our players and fans.

“I’d like to wish Bearsted good luck in their game at Whyteleafe on Saturday.”
