Maidstone manager George Elokobi has reiterated his call for patience in the transfer market.
The Stones are working hard to sign players after losing Antony Papadopoulos, Matt Rush and Matt Bentley over the Christmas and New Year period.
They’ve won back-to-back games since the trio’s departure, beating Welling 1-0 on New Year’s Day and Enfield 4-0 on Saturday to extend their winning run to seven games.
Discussing potential incomings, Elokobi said: “The recruitment committee is always working.
“We have to be patient and trust what we’ve got in the building.
“Yes, we want to bring players in, but those players that come in will have to be good additions to the squad and they have to fight their way in as well because the group is playing well.
“It’s important we don’t panic.
“The head of recruitment is always out there, making sure we’ve got our targets and seeing how we can get them in.”
Substitute Shaq Coulthirst showed why there’s no need to panic after scoring a hat-trick in Maidstone’s win over Enfield.
Used mainly from the bench this season, an in-form Coulthirst could be a big asset in the Stones’ National League South title challenge.
“That’s the competition we want in the squad,” said Elokobi.
“We want healthy competition and he understands that.
“Shaq’s been coming on, having 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there, but I think he got 30 minutes (against Enfield) and he showed the quality.
“It’s credit to him working ever so hard behind closed doors to ensure he’s ready to take moments like this and he’s just proved it.”
