Maidstone United striker Aaron Blair joins Temi Eweka in signing for National League Eastleigh | Goalkeeper Lenny Holden pens new deal at the Gallagher Stadium

Aaron Blair has followed former Maidstone United team-mate Temi Eweka to Eastleigh.

The striker, United’s top scorer last season with 21 goals, had been linked with a move to the Spitfires before Eweka’s transfer.

It was announced on Monday the pair would be leaving Maidstone for higher-league football after turning down new contracts.

Centre-half Eweka was unveiled as an Eastleigh player that evening and Blair has now joined him at the Silverlake.

“I’m very happy to have signed,” Blair told the National League club’s media team.

“It’s been a long time coming and I think it’s the right time for me to make the step up.

“After speaking the gaffer (Kelvin Davis), I think it’s the right choice for me.”

Blair added: “I want to get promoted and goals and assists is what I want to provide for the team.

“I preferably want to get double figures in both.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Lenny Holden has signed a new contract at Maidstone.

Holden was understudy to Alexis Andre Jr at the Gallagher last season.

He made his National League South debut as an emergency striker in a 4-0 win over Farnborough last December.

But he got a chance to play in his true position, with Farnborough again the opposition, when he replaced Andre Jr during the second half of a 2-2 draw on the final day of the season.

“Hopefully I can show the fans what I can do between the sticks,” said the ex-Leyton Orient youngster.

“It’ll be a privilege to get a few more games, get the fans behind me and see where the season takes us.”

Holden is currently the only keeper on the books after Andre Jr left Maidstone to relocate to Belgium.
