A disappointing final round prevented Matt Ford from achieving another top 10 finish at the weekend in his rookie season on the PGA European Golf Tour.

The Bearsted professional, who finished runner-up in last month’s Africa Open, went into Sunday’s final round in the Shenzhen International in China lying in joint fourth place after three solid rounds of 69, 69 and 70.

But Ford struggled to a four-over-par 76 on Sunday which meant he finished tied 34th with a total of four-under-par 284 - eight shots behind the winner, Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat who defeated Li Hao-Tong of China in a play-off.

Ford picked up 16,914 Euros for his efforts which leaves him in 53rd place in the Race to Dubai rankings with 159,864 Euros.
