Maidstone United hand debut to new goalkeeper Josh Strizovic

Maidstone fans will get their first look at new keeper Josh Strizovic tonight.

The 18-year-old, who’s joined from Billericay, will make his debut when United host Dover in the Kent Senior Cup second round.

Boss Harry Wheeler says it’s too soon for the teenager to seriously challenge Lee Worgan for the No.1 shirt.

But he rates the former Braintree youth product highly and wants to see him in action after signing him for the second time.

Wheeler said: “He’s young and he has a lot of potential. We’ll see that Tuesday.

“He’s a very good player, so potentially he can push Worgs but not at the moment.

“It’s great for him to learn off Worgs and be around him and he’ll get better and better.”

Holders Maidstone intend to mix up their side while Dover will be represented by their academy team.

Strizovic’s arrival has seen Matt Funnell leave the Gallagher.
