Bellway plans 400 more homes for Kings Hill

Housebuilder Bellway aims to deliver another 402 homes in Kings Hill after acquiring four more parcels of land for residential development.

The company is preparing detailed plans for the four sites, which all received outline planning permission in 2019.

The four developments continue the regeneration of the former RAF West Malling, a project which began in 1990, and has already resulted in 3,500 new homes, three new schools, 23 shops, parks, community facilities and 1m sq ft of commercial floor space.

Under the proposals, Bellway will build 140 apartments across two different sites, featuring a mix of one and two-bedroom homes, with 40% allocated to affordable housing through either rent or shared ownership.

The second stage will comprise 210 homes on a 20.8-acre site off Jubilee Way, featuring a variety of one and two-bedroom apartments and three, four and five-bedroom houses, again providing 40 per cent of the homes as affordable housing.

The final site stage will see 52 two, three and four-bedroom homes constructed, all for private sale.

The housebuilder is already working on another development at Kings Hill, named Lysander Fields, which was launched last November.

The first of the 70 homes being built at this site, located off Park Drive, are due to be completed in April.

Land director Dan Merriman said: “These latest land acquisitions demonstrate our commitment to the Kings Hill project and to delivering a further selection of high-quality homes for this community.

“The mix of houses and apartments we are planning to build will provide options for a variety of house-buyers in Kent as well as offering much-needed affordable homes for local people.

“Kings Hill is a location which continues to be very much in demand, as the interest levels in our recently launched Lysander Fields development have shown."

If Tonbridge and Malling council approves the detailed plans, the company hopes to start work on the latest sites this coming autumn.
