A crash between and car and a lorry caused delays of up to 45 minutes on the coastbound M20.

It happened at around 11.35am between J3 for the M26, and J4 for Leybourne and Snodland.

Police patrols, Highways officers and Kent Fire and Rescue Service arrived to find a car on its side.

Two fire engines attended and crews used short extension ladders to assist two people from the car.

They were assessed by paramedics at the scene but didn’t require further hospital treatment.

Three out of four lanes were closed to traffic to allow recovery of the vehicle.

Average journey times were 45 minutes longer than normal, and there were also 30 minute delays on the M26 eastbound as a result.

All lanes have now reopened and congestion has eased.
