Motorists are facing delays on the M20 this afternoon after Highways England shut two lanes.

There are delays of around 20 minutes, with repairs expected to last until later this afternoon.

Some motorists claim the carriageway has been in disrepair for weeks.

Highways England has been criticised for carrying out the works at the start of the February half term.

Its Twitter account @HighwaysSEAST said it was undertaking the work "right away" as "safety is our top priority".

The closure is now expected to stay in place as late as 8pm tonight.
