Staff are being verbally abused at indoor play centre on a daily basis since its reopening, the boss has said.

Andrew Moody, co-owner of Adventure Kidz in Aylesford, says he will ban repeat offenders if they continue to abuse his employees.

The facility reopened last week to much excitement after being closed for the majority of this year and last due to Covid restrictions, bringing on financial worries for the business which watched as other play centres across west Kent shut their doors for good, falling under the strain of the pandemic.

Restrictions are currently in place to ensure social distancing and the centre has slashed its capacity from 480 to 140.

Mr Moody said: "We have had a great experience from reopening and it has been very welcomed, but what we are finding is the customers are very frustrated, they are very angry and they are taking their frustration and anger out on my staff.

"My staff are here to help everybody where possible. There are certain customers that have come in and have just completely and utterly verbally abused my staff and this is not just on one occaston, this seems to be a daily occurence at the moment ."

"My staff should not ever be faced with this kind of abuse, if a customer is unhappy about something all we ask them to do is speak to us in a polite manner and we will fix any issues that they may have but just to verbally abuse my staff for no apparent reason is not acceptable."

Mr Moody said some people were getting angry over the new seating system bought in to enable social distancing, with two separate areas, one which has a raised platform.

"Some customers are moaning and saying 'this is unacceptable that you are asking us to walk up on a platform in a secure area, we don't want to sit here.'

"The feeling I'm getting is every single person wants to be sit the shortest possible distance from everywhere, unfortunately life isn't like that."

"I would expect people to come back and feel happy that we are open and we are giving you something back because we have been closed for a long time and 99% of everybody that has come here has welcomed us with open arms and returned on multiple occasions.

"But unfortunately it's the minority that's spoiling it for the majority and it's those things you remember rather than the good things."

"If this continues on from some customers I will personally ask them to not to return."

Mr Moody finished with this message: "Anybody who comes into Adventure Kidz, please please please treat my staff with respect, my staff will treat you with respect. If there any any issues we are here to help but please do not verbally abuse my staff or myself, because we do not deserve it."
