The car, which had been followed by officers, was reported as being involved in a collision on the London-bound carriageway between Junctions 2 for Wrotham and 1 at Swanley yesterday at 12.25pm.

Officers who had stopped another vehicle for an unrelated reason noticed one of the cars reported to have been involved in the collision shortly afterwards and began to follow it.

Police had earlier seized cocaine from the roadside and later found a knuckleduster.

Anthony Daniel, 45, of Nut Bush Lane, Torquay, Devon, was arrested and later charged with possession of a class A drug, possession of an offensive weapon and driving without due care and attention.

He was released on bail and will appear before Sevenoaks magistrates on Monday, August 15.
