Ryarsh robbers spray Mercedes driver with 'unknown substance' before stealing car

A Mercedes driver was sprayed with an unknown substance during a brazen robbery.

The victim was driving along Woodgate Road in Ryarsh, West Malling, when he collided with a grey Skoda estate driving in the opposite direction.

Its alleged a passenger left the Skoda and was joined by someone in a white van which had pulled up behind the Mercedes.

The pair then smashed the Mercedes E350 Coupe's front nearside and offside windows.

The driver's face was sprayed with an unknown liquid. When he ran to a nearby house for help, his car was stolen.

Police found the car, which sell for around £40,000, on fire at around 8.30pm in a field near Stansted Hill, Stansted, near Wrotham.

Investigating officer, Det Const Iain Joyce said: "Enquiries are ongoing into this incident, including forensic checks and a review of any potential CCTV opportunities.

"I would particularly like to hear from anybody with dash cam footage from the area between Ryarsh and Stansted between 6.30pm and 9pm on Sunday 6 October 2019."
