Ms Town, 59, said: "I have never quite been able to let go of his ashes. They are my last link to him and losing them has really knocked me for six."

The St Giles Trust worker's partner Alan Standen, a former director of Tunbridge Wells Samaritans, died in 2011.

He had been disabled since he was eight-years-old after a battle with Polio, Alan met Heather in 1977 and they were together for 34 years.

Ms Town said: "Alan was really charismatic and cared about other people. We met at work at an insurance brokers and he was the one who came and looked after me when I had just started.

"Before he died I became his carer, its been eight years but his death is still very raw."

Last December Ms Town sold her home and was staying at the Premier Inn on Tonbridge Road.

In January she was taken ill and rushed to Maidstone Hospital.

She spent three months at the hospital and was unable to drive after being discharged.

The keen kite flyer, from Tunbridge Wells, said: "The hotel have been very kind and said I could keep my car there as long as necessary.

"I went past the hotel on a bus two weeks ago and noticed my car was missing.

"Obviously I care about the car but not as much as the ashes and the kites. There were 21 of them, all of them were white and I used to fly them in his memory.

"His ashes were in a tube with bluebells on, I just want them returned with no questions asked. They may have been dumped somewhere. The kites are not worth a lot to anyone other than me."

Premier Inn said it did not ask for the vehicle to be removed, police believe the white Isuzu 4x4 was stolen between November 14 and 28.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The vehicle has not been located and no arrests have been made."

Anyone with information is asked to call 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/228197/19.
