A trespasser was tasered and then arrested after walking onto railway tracks.
British Transport Police officers were called to Wateringbury just before 4am and arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of obstructing the railway.
He remains in police custody.
As a result of the arrest, trains on the Medway Valley Line between Paddock Wood and Maidstone West were disrupted though services were largely running on time during the peak period.
A BTP spokesman added: "Inquiries continue."
There was further chaos on the network this morning after thieves stole signalling cables between Faversham and Whitstable, meaning a host of services were delayed.
