Two charged after break-in at East Malling newsagent

Officers investigating two reported break-ins at a newsagent in East Malling have charged a man.

On Wednesday, April 6 a large sum of money was stolen from a store in Twisden Road.

It is also reported a shop door had been damaged two days earlier.

On Tuesday officers executed a warrant at a property in East Malling and arrested William Arnold, 27, of Ruskin Close in East Malling.

He has since been charged with two counts of burglary and a further count of possessing cocaine with intent to supply.

While at the scene officers also arrested Colin Arnold.

The 55-year-old, also of Ruskin Close, has since been charged with possessing a prohibited weapon, theft and possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.

These alleged offences are not linked to the reported burglaries at the newsagent.

Both men have been bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, May 25.

A 29-year-old man from Larkfield was also arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been bailed, pending further enquiries, until Thursday, July 21.
