Officers searched the van and revealed the suspected stolen clothes.

The force's unit said two people were in custody and the van was seized.

A police spokesman said: "At around 2.15am on Friday, March 11, officers from the Roads Policing Unit followed a van following a report of suspicious activity near West Malling.

"The vehicle was stopped on the A228 close to Kings Hill and found to contain large quantities of clothing, much of it in bin bags.

"Two men were arrested on suspicion of theft. Following enquiries and interviews they were both later released. No charges were brought against either suspect."
