A car fire sparked a blaze across 15 acres of woodland and undergrowth.

Firefighters were called to Sweets Lane in East Malling shortly after 7am today after reports the fire had spread.

Three fire engines went to the scene, where the vehicle itself was burnt out and the blaze had taken hold across an area approximately 200m by 300m.

Crews worked to put the fire out with beaters and portable tanks with an arm to spray water.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

The firefighters were able to leave the scene by 10am.
