A cyclist has been injured after colliding with a van prompting the air ambulance to be called.

The incident took place in Broadview Avenue in Rainham this afternoon.

The helicopter was seen flying low over the town after the incident was reported at about 3.25pm.

Paramedics are assessing and treating the cyclist at the scene.

Police have closed the road while further investigations take place.

Officers remain at the scene.
