An IMAX cinema is planned for a shopping complex.

A planning application has been submitted for the Odeon Cinema in Chatham Dockside, which if successful would see an illuminated IMAX sign installed.

IMAX cinemas promise bigger screens, greater resolution and state-of-the-art sound.

An IMAX screen is typically larger than a standard cinema screen, measuring 16m high by 22m wide.

Its featured include enhanced audio and HD imaging.

The closest IMAX cinema is in Bluewater.

There are also plans to open one in Ashford.

The application is due to be decided by Medway Council's planning committee by Saturday, August 6.

KentOnline has asked Odeon several times what its plans are for the site but it is yet to respond.
