Police appeal after Rory Baldwin goes missing after night out with friends at Vines Rochester

A police helicopter and search boats are out looking for a man who went missing after a night out in Rochester.

Rory Baldwin, 25, from Farnham in Surrey, went missing at around 12.30am on Saturday, July 31 July following a night out with friends.

Rory Baldwin has been missing since the early hours of Saturday and was last seen in The Vines area of Rochester

A statement from the force said: "Officers are concerned for his welfare."

The latest search site is reportedly by the old civic centre in Strood.

Other areas being checked include the churchyard at St Mary's Church and continuing up St Margaret’s Street.

Mr Baldwin was last seen in the area of The Vines and was wearing a dark Fred Perry polo shirt beneath a dark jacket, with dark jeans and dark trainers.

Rory's sister Milli has taken to social media to urge people to come forward if they have information.

In a tweet shared 4,200 times, she said: "My brother went missing last night (Friday/Saturday) in ROCHESTER, KENT, If you have any information or have seen him please let me know ASAP!

"He was last seen and heard from at around 1am (Saturday, July31) PLEASE SHARE AND GET MY BROTHER HOME"

This morning Rochester residents reported on social media that a police helicopter has been seen.

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed "the helicopter is assisting with our search."

One commenter, on local facebook group Rochester Community Friends, said: "There are life boats in the river and search and rescue people walking around the esplanade too. I suspect they are related."

One woman described seeing a "thorough search going on."

She added: "I have just met a team of four from Kent Search and Rescue looking around the churchyard in depth and continuing up St Margaret’s Street.

"They are all volunteers from around Kent and experienced people. Praying for all involved."
